Created in 1971 to fund equipment and training camps — and to keep JCBC among the best-equipped clubs on the Cam.
The Jesus College Boat Club Trust was created in 1971 to support the club through the purchase of rowing equipment; more recently it has added significant support for training camps.
The JCBC has benefited greatly from the generosity of former members who have donated to the Trust, and from the time committed by its Trustees. In the past few years the Trust has funded two Filippi VIIIs, three Filippi pairs and numerous ergos and blades, making JCBC among the best-equipped clubs in Cambridge, and has for many years part-funded the winter training camp in Europe.

The Standing Order & Gift Aid form sets up regular giving as a Friend of JCBC and lets the club reclaim Gift Aid on UK taxpayers’ donations. The Graduate Donor form is a lighter-touch option for recent graduates to give from as little as £1 a month. Return either to the Development Office.
Captain of JCBC in 1971–72, rowing in the crews that won all four major Cambridge college events that year. A partner at Allen & Overy (1979–2015), he was the 684th Lord Mayor of the City of London (2011–12), a Steward of Henley Royal Regatta and an Honorary Fellow of the College.
Read Natural Sciences and learnt to row at Jesus; rowed in the Lightweight Boat Race (1977), captained JCBC (1978) and rowed for Zimbabwe in the 1980s. Director of the Luc Hoffmann Institute, now living in Switzerland, and a member of the CULRC Senior Committee.
Read Mathematics and rowed for the Men's 1st VIII, winning the Foster–Fairbairn Pairs in 2009 and serving as Men's Captain and President in 2009/10. A portfolio manager at Tabula Capital; appointed Trust Treasurer in 2019.
Dean of Chapel and lead Welfare Tutor at Jesus since 2019, and Senior Treasurer to the Boat Club since 2020. Responsible for pastoral care across College, including the boathouse — often assisted by his beagle, Pippy.
Rowed in the Blue Boat 1982–84 and won the Goblets at Henley in 1984 and 1985, with a Commonwealth bronze for Scotland in 1986. Executive Chairman of CUBC 2017–20, having led the build of the new Cambridge boathouse in Ely.
JCBC secretary (1989/90) and captain (1990/91), rowing in the 1st May VIII for four years. In his captaincy the club won University Light IVs and Fairbairn's. Now a London law-firm partner.
Over 30 years in rowing; JCBC women's captain 1998–99 and a long-time coach of JCBC crews. Appointed to the Trust in 2006; works as an employed barrister in London.
Read Economics and served as JCBC Women's Captain and President in 2008–09. Works for IBM and was appointed to the JCBC Trust in 2016.
Rowed for five terms in the 1st VIII, rowing over 2nd on the river in the 1994 Mays. Continues to row and coach, now at Upper Thames RC in Henley.
Noviced at Jesus in 2001 and was Captain 2003–04, later coaching crews alongside conservation research in Africa. Joined the Trust in 2010 and still coaches whenever possible.
